Etsy News - Changes
1. Free Shipping Coupons Coming soon
When you create a free shipping coupon, you can choose to make the coupon only valid if the shipping address for the order is domestic. A shipping address is considered domestic if the country matches the ship from country for all listings in the order. For example, if I ship from the United States, any shipping address in the United States is considered domestic for my shop.

This feature is now live for a small percentage of shops, and we plan to ramp it up to everyone over the next week.
If you haven't created a coupon code yet, you can read our coupon code help guide to get up to speed:

2. Listing Process Change - tags
We've released a change to the listing process. With the change, you may see a new category selection tool while tagging your listings. Our purpose is to improve search and browsing accuracy by guiding sellers to choose a subcategory and a sub-subcategory.
If you need help with choosing good, targeted tags for your listings, please see these articles for ideas. You may use any words that accurately describe your item:

3. An Upcoming Feature and our Privacy Policy
connect with other people on Etsy. When you add someone to your Etsy circle, you can follow along with their favorites in your activity feed. It's illuminating!
But it's hard to find people you know on Etsy, and we're going to change that. We're going to make it easy to connect your email address book to Etsy, so we can automagically find people you know who are also members.
If you don't want other folks to be able to find you on Etsy by your email address, you will be able to easily opt out through your account privacy settings. Your email address will never be publicly displayed. Only people who have emailed with you before would be able to find you on Etsy this way.
We're letting you know about this in advance, and plan to launch this feature in mid-February. We're in the process of emailing all Etsy members to let them know about this.
We have also revised our Privacy Policy in anticipation of this feature. You can review our Privacy Policy here:

If you were born between January 20 and February 18, your astrological sign is Aquarius. Aquarius - called by the Greeks Hydrochoos, "the Water-Pourer." "Aquarius" is a Latin translation of the Greek name.
Aquarius is open-minded and usually holds no prejudices. Aquarius is serene and friendly. Aquarius will listen and learn from anyone to find the truth. Aquarius has so many interests that there are times his energy is spread too thin.

Interview with Silvia from The Butterflies Shop
Hello, I'm Silvia Bolchi and I live nearby Milan (world fashion capital ;)), in the north part of Italy. I sign my paintings on cloth as Sihaya, a name that's been inspired by my best friend, an important person in my life that is helping me so much. I have a messy and wonderful 3 years old daughter named Giulia (named after Julia Roberts, an actress that I simply adore!). She is my every day mixed blessing :) Right now, I'm living my life thinking about my dreams... dreams that I wholeheartedly hope that one day will be a reality ... including having a business of my own, based on my creations and what I love making both for myself and the people I love.
> What is your favorite color combination? I love all pastel colors, and aged colors even more... aqua green that turns into sage green. Ivory that morphs into tan. Lilac that becomes light grey. Peach pink, antique rose... and every shade of light blue.
> What is the first thing you can remember making by hand? How and why did you make it?
Miniatures. I was 7 or 8 years old back then. My father let me use for the first time a utility knife, and using two small battens and some glue, I crafted my first mini dolls house. It's 5 cm (2") or so high, and it's full of tiny furniture. It's crooked and rudimentary, but beautiful. I enshrine it in my miniatures collection to this day.
> What inspires you?
Nature, scents and colors. Butterflies and LOVE.
> Where do your ideas come from? From what I see around me... looking, that's the secret. The WWW helps a lot, but makes the world kind of one-dimensional... by looking away from the monitor, the world becomes "real" again, and that inspires me. I always strive to create something that means something to me. My colors, my desires, my dreams are always with me, and within my creations.
> Does the atmosphere affect your creativity? Not completely. When I'm feeling fine, happy... creating something beautiful is easier, but making something is also a way to isolate myself, to bring me to my little fairy world, to estrange myself from something that makes me feel bad. Moreover, pastel colors to me mean Spring and Summer. Antique pastel colors and therefore a little more grey make me think of Winter. Black and greys don't charm me, but a little of these shades always slips into my world full of sunny and easy colors.
> Where do you create, in a workroom/ studio or in a park? In my house, and in my workroom.
> What are your favorite materials? Everything. I use whatever inspires me, trying to use as many materials as possible.
> What is your favorite thing to do with your creativity? Sew. My two sewing machines are my best friends.
> What are the web addresses for you?
Etsy: www.thebutterfliesshop.etsy.com/ Also, I have another website, in Italian, about an old but still ongoing passion of mine, dolls house miniatures : www.sogniinminiatura.com/ (Dreams in miniature)
> Do you have a blog? Sure! www.thebutterfliesshop.com/ , designed by my best friend, and I'm able to keep it going thanks, again, to him :)
Grey Blue Chamois Leather Obi Belt
> Why should people buy handmade? In order to have something unique, something that is not the same old dress or jewelry.
> Any tips of wisdom on selling handmade? Never give up, keep on doing what you like, believe in oneself and do lots and lots of marketing :)
> Apart from creating things, what do you do? I'm a full time mom, and I try to do my best to keep my house neat. Just like almost every artist, I'm quite messy and so it isn't always easy. Oh, and I almost forgot... I LOVE!
> What have been the most valuable lessons learned from other artists? Never give up!
> Read any good books lately?
I love Sophie Kinsella (Madeleine Wickham) and all her books. I have every one of them, and I read them again and again. I look at Japanese fashion books and books on butterflies, and I get inspired by them.
> Are you offering my readers any specials?
I'm happy to offer your readers a 10% discount on every item on thebutterfliesshop.etsy.com/ as well as minisibo.etsy.com/ . Just use this coupon code when placing the order: LINDA
Thank you very much again for the opportunity!

I’ve been taking several pictures of our cats, Sammy (orange), Fritz (black) and Buddy (gray and white) because they’re so darn cute. We’ve never had cats that were so affectionate toward each other. Sammy and Fritz sleep together.
